The Edmonton Journal - Century Park’s ProCura a living, breathing neighbourhood
EDMONTON - Ordinarily the demise of a shopping mall signals a precipitous downward slide in most locales. But in the relative ashes of South Edmonton’s former Heritage Mall, Century Park — one of the city’s most exciting and vital neighbourhoods — has emerged, far outstripping its former commercial lineage.
The beating heart of the district is, as always, where people actually make their lives. ProCura’s Century Park Club and Residences is the latest striking incarnation of the burgeoning community. The most casual passerby instantly notices the critical differences between the development and so many other condominium projects across the city and region.
It looks great! The same level of care and attention to detail found in the panoply of one-, two- and three-bedroom-suite interior plans available can be discerned in the external architecture, with its striking roof lines, huge balconies, canny use of glass and the sort of finishing touches usually found only in far more expensive buildings.
In fact, Century Park Club and Residences defines affordable living, with prices ranging from $279,000 to the mid-600s.
The sense of urban community here isn’t just another empty advertising buzzword. As ProCura marketing director Sherry Schluessel — whose Edmontonian husband began Alberta-based ProCura 34 years ago — underlines, this development has been consciously designed for all ages and pursuits. The bridges and barriers are down, literally by design. That, after all, is the definition of a real, breathing, pulsing neighbourhood.
